4 Sure-Fire Ways to Turn Failure Into Success

Yeah, it’s all amazing that Disney went bankrupt and Einstein failed numerous times in his experiments and yet they both achieved extraordinary success.... but yikes! What happens when it’s us, in the real world today, how do we keep moving forward even when the chips are down?

The most important thing about so called ‘failure’ is that maybe it teaches us how to do things better the next time, and hopefully each time we get it a little bit better until it finally works out.  But when we're in the midst of it - Life tends to get hazy… Theories are great, but I’m about the tangible – what are some things we can do along the way to help us to keep on keepin’ on?

1.  Allow Yourself Down Time to Recover
So, let’s say you didn't get the job, audition, date, etc., that you were hoping for. Any way you look at it, the reality is that it hurts.  Realize that it’s OK to be disappointed!  Allow yourself a moment to sulk and feel your feelings – giving ourselves that space allows us to heal, then it’s just as important to let it go.  When our minds stay stuck in that one, so called, ‘failure’ it prevents better opportunities from coming our way. The healing process allows us to let it go and move on to brighter things!

2. Be Open to Making Improvements
Songwriters have a saying, that sometimes writing a song isn’t about writing, it’s about re-writing. We look at a song and then go through line by line and note by note to make it better.
I think the same concept applies to our lives when we’re trying to take the next steps towards our vision.
If it didn’t work out, take a hard look at what you did.

What pieces of the puzzle can you shift to create a different picture?  This is a process of trial and error, you might not get it right the next 10 times either… BUT your chances of success increase if you continue to experiment with the possibilities.

 3. Don’t Stop Believing
Yeah, I love that old Journey song… But in real life, it’s important not to let one bad experience, failed experiment or rejection define us. We are all a mix of everything that has happened in our lives that have led us to this moment.  Sometimes it all works out perfectly, sometimes there are bumps along the way and sometimes there is nothing we could have done differently to have changed the outcome.  I like to remind myself that if it’s meant to be, it will happen and if it didn’t happen it wasn’t meant to be. Go look for something better!
 4. You now have a Clean Slate!
Use this situation as an opportunity to take a look at your goals. Perhaps this is a great chance to rewrite them? Use this moment to regain your clarity and maybe it didn’t work out because it’s something that wasn't meant to be part of your bigger picture.  Life is a step by step process and there is a power in having to try again – it strengthens our resolve. When we start over we prove to ourselves that we have the power to keep moving forward, and it reminds us to keep following our dreams.

Wishing you love, light and abundant success!
