You Are a Modern Day Warrior
We have an expression in Kundalini yoga, "Keep up and you will be kept up." So, in yoga class when my arms are in the air for an extended time and I feel like it's not possible to go on? Suddenly the challenge ceases and it becomes easy. We have the ability to go past the voices in our minds that say we can't - then miraculously? We discover that we can!
And that's the nature of a True Warrior, looking adversity in the face, keeping on and telling ourselves, "I Can."
Yoga builds the nervous system which enables us to endure. Just because I can hold my arms up for 11 minutes doesn't make me strong (it wouldn't take much to bench press more weight than I can! ha!ha!) The point is, it's our mind that makes us strong.
It's the choices we make that enable us to Keep Up. Sometimes, it's as simple as choosing Not to Give Up.
Everything is perspective....
We are all survivors, of something. How do we get through the things we survived? It's our state of mind. It's powerful when we decide that we are going to focus, choose strength and embrace joy. But often, it's not always even conscious. Sometimes we keep up by simply going through the motions of living. Then suddenly one day we look back and say, "Hey I did that - I made it through." We exhale and embrace our inner-warrior! Yet the truth is? Our warrior-self was with us all along!
We all have that inner warrior, that inner strength that enables us to persist in the face of adversity
Persistence is a necessary trait for the modern day warrior...
And it is also the key to success in business, in love and in life.
In reality we really only have 2 choices - to keep up or to give up.
We do it everyday. It doesn't matter what your so called "challenge" is - everything is in perspective to the individual. A problem for one person might be considered nothing for someone else. It is never for us to judge someone else's journey.
We are all warriors and we possess endurance within us that we might not even know that we had.
The one tool we always have, I learned this in Yoga and it applies to life - it's our breath. Breathing is our life force, our energy source and focusing there gives us the ability to keep on going. Often you might notice that in moments of tension, emotional or physical, our tendency is hold our breath. Bringing awareness to this and then reminding yourself to breath is a simple trick that works wonders! Breathing deeply helps us to keep on, because more air = more energy/prana/life force
(also helps with stage jitters and performance :)
Don't wait until life Challenges you, Trust that Today, in This Moment you Already have all of the Courage, the Strength and the Power to make it happen!
To quote some Scandalous words from the 80's....
Til' Next week?
"I'm shooting down the walls of Heartache... Bang Bang!
I am the warrior....." ha!
Love, Light, Togetherness and Warrior Courage!

One More Thought...
As you embrace your warrior self and travel this week, remember your strength but don't forget a team of many hearts is more powerful that one who stands alone. This Sunday marks 10 years since the devastating events of 9/11. Wow!
I lived in NYC during this time and one thing I vividly remember is the connection it created between people - usually in NYC people travel and hardly notice others around them. The week after 9/11 people reached out, looked each other in eyes and even smiled! We found strength in the spirit of togetherness.
My blessings are with you NYC!
And if you are interested to hear some music that was created in response to 9/11? The Women of Substance Radio 9/11 Tribute show will feature my song entitled, "Legacy"
My kind of warrior-self questions the message of violence and embraces leaving a legacy of peace for our children. This Week Only! Wed, Sat & Sun from 3-7pm EST.
