Were YOU Born With It?

Well, if you're dying for the answer and don't have time to read the article?
The ANSWER IS YES!
If you don't believe me .... Keep on Reading!
For the IT of this E-Zine I am going to focus on Musicianship and Performing. However, the same concepts can apply to success in all endeavors.
OK, so very often we look at 'famous' people or even at our peers who excel at performing. You know those people we see onstage & it looks like they were always meant to be there - the room is a hush, everyone's listening, and involved in the show. Wow! How did They get that way? They must have been born with a piece of glitter in their genes.....?
So then we start thinking.... I guess some people have it and some people don't
And this my friends is Performance Myth #1
Because this idea is simply NOT True –

YOU CAN cultivate your stage presence!
YES, there are people who are born gifted with a special radiance & musical genius aka, Talent - However, if you look a little deeper? Most of them have done a lot of Hard Work to make these gifts tangible.
Let's look at some people who have IT!
Prince (an iconic example of crazy talent!) is well known for rehearsing around the clock before a tour (and he's already fabulous!)
Michael Jackson (whatever you might think of him) For years he was The pop icon. As child, he started as part of the Jackson 5  and (controversially for some) those kids put in hours and hours and hours getting the act to happen and the Thriller video was the same – rehearsal til' perfection
The Beatles, Gaga, Madonna, Kiss .. need I go on?
So we are looking at Talent, and then we see.... These people who are 'born with it' didn't just roll out of bed to perform and make music history, they still worked at it!
Even if you look at shows like Idol or X factor.... Besides winning... What's the point? The contestants get to spend time with celeb judges and they receive professional guidance so that they can get Better!
Remember when labels used to 'develop' artists? Well, what do you think they were developing? Their talent, their presence, Their creativity, their skills
The problem nowadays is that no one ever sits down to help us understand this stuff. People say, hey your songs are great! You should play them out. So we book a show. But no one ever gives us any information on how to present them for maximum impact- Forget about How to prepare? How to deal with the inevitable stage jitters?
A Successful Performance is a little more complicated than "Go On Stage, Play Your Songs, Have Fun!" It takes rehearsal, planning and preparation. Yes even if you're just doing a simple song round, you DO want those songs to be published, right? Then why not present them so that people can really hear them!
So, if you are interested in learning how to connect with your audience and stepping on stage with more confidence? Feel free to drop me a line back and let's chat!
I Promise YOU have IT!! It's just that no one ever told you where to find it

Love, Light, Blessings, Success, Spotlights (and holiday cookies!)
