5 Steps to Pure Perfection

5 Steps to Pure Perfection….

One of my favorite books growing up was a little story called, “Pobodys Nerfect”
Farley is a calf who looks different than everyone else – he tries to cover up his spots – and then he realizes that his friends like him because he’s different ;)   Moral of the story?  Embracing who we are is a bolder step than trying to be who think we Should be…..

 1.  What is perfection?
The state of Being entirely without fault or defect
That’s a high bar – Yikes!  If we focus on that definition it’s easy to lose heart and quit before we start.  Remember it’s the wrinkles & uniqueness that give things their true beauty!!

2.  Recognize that you are perfect the way you are
In Kundalini Yoga we start with the premise that we are all perfect the way we are and all of our infinite potential lies within us.  It’s there, just sometimes we strive so hard to be something different,  that we fail to recognize the beauty of who we truly are.

3.  Perfection is subjective
Our ideal of perfect is often the result of our cultural influences and upbringing.  There is no ideal of anything that resonates with every person.  There is no right answer.  There is no perfect.  There are simply different perspectives.  Understand others, embrace your own and recognize that all are valid.

4.  I Am, What I Am
We focus so much on what we’re supposed to be doing or how others want us to be? that we lost touch with Who We Truly Are.  Understanding what WE want is where we can find the center of our strength and presence and balance.

Often we get so caught up in being the highest standard of something that we fail to recognize OUR perfect niche.   Ignore what others doing.  Listen to your heart and Go in the direction of doing what YOU do best!

5.  We are All a Work in Progress
If we look at our lives, We are all a work in progress.  One of my mentors, who is also one the best jazz pianists I know, often talks about the idea of learning as a life long journey.  She’s in her 60’s and still practicing, expanding her knowledge each day.
Realize that there’s always more distance to cover – If we think only about perfect Right Now,  that prevents us from growing.  The intention to move forward is much more powerful.

Everyday in my meditation practice and in every class I teach I try to remind myself and others to listen to where you are in this moment and  to allow yourself to be in that place.  Exhale,  embrace where you are and enjoy that beautiful space.  You are perfect right now wherever and whoever you are.  :)
